In short, striving to create a life of authenticity. “Feel Free and Be Happy” tells this story in eleven songs. It was released in December of 2016.

Backstory

Tyler’s younger brother, Zach, who was a teenager at the time, asked for a guitar as a birthday gift from their parents. Zach started learning to play the riff of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’” on the guitar before leaving it leaning up against a bedroom wall of their mom’s house before returning to boarding school one year. It was a starter guitar from a local "Toys-R-Us.” On one summer day in June of 2007, after finishing freshman year at Bennington College, 19-year-old Tyler returned home for the summer. After a few days of many glances at Zach’s guitar, Tyler decided to pick it up for the first time and it was love at first strum. Riffs from songs written by Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ray LaMontagne were learned that summer. After some self-teaching through online videos, learning how to read and use guitar tablature, taking several music classes throughout college, playing music with friends, then graduating college, Tyler has continued to play as a solo musician and started songwriting at age 22. The largest influences to start writing songs included Ray LaMontagne, the Black Keys and Led Zeppelin. Money was saved to purchase a Martin acoustic guitar and then a raw-recorded, first album was released in 2016. Today, Tyler performs original works, cover songs and also teaches guitar lessons on Zoom.
